I was bedridden for until 2pm...they wanted to monitor the baby, I wanted to walk to get the labor moving. After finally letting us go, went walking at the Mississippi River, eating yummy food from the Birchwood Cafe. Next we went to Dairy Queen for a Oreo Cheesequake Blizzard to enjoy while walking around Minnehaha Falls. FINALLY things started picking up around 4pm, with contractions happening every 2-4 minutes!
I wanted to avoid the hospital for as long as possible, so as not to be bedridden again. As we drove past a bowling alley, Sunny suggested we go. Although the contractions were more intense, and more frequent, I thought "what the heck!" and bowled one of my worst games ever, resting between contractions!
FINALLY, we went back to the hospital about 7pm. I was dialated only 3 cm, so the doctor wanted to give me pitocin to speed things up OR send me home. Knowing I had not walked for 3.5 hours for nothing, I convinced the doc that I should stay at the hosptial and walk as my contractions were nearly unbearable at this point! At about 9pm, he said it might take another 2 or so hours, but that I was dialated to 8 cm. Luckily, baby and I were on the same page and he arrived at 9:37pm, no pitocin, no drugs, no nada!
As we didn't know what we were having, it was so fun to hear dad say "it's a boy" when our little guy appeared. He's all of 8 lbs., 2 oz, 20.5 inches...our biggest baby yet! I was absolutely elated to meet him and for all that labor to be OVER!
